To register you can either log in directly from your iPhone, create a new account from the “information/manage account” menu, or create the account the first time you publish your trips on the web. You only need a “nickname, password and mail address..
Of course! You can take photos or add georeferenced notes even when you are not connected. But you will not be able to view maps or trips uploaded by other users.
If you have a 3G iPhone, the integrated GPS communicates your position even without an internet connection (there is no data transfer). If there is no GPS coverage the content will be positioned on the 0:0 coordinates (in the middle of the Ocean!) but you can easily relocate later by pressing the “edit” button on the map. If you have a first generation iPhone, the GPS position will be “approximate” (within a 5km range).
To convert a gps coordinate into a real address (automatic function offered by the application) mappper requires a brief internet data connection. If the connection is not available, the gps coordinates will be saved and as soon as a connection is available you can manually request the geopositioning by touching “edit” from the content list.
Every trip or content created with your iPhone mappper can be set either as public or private. Default setting is public, but if you want to, you can make it “private” (either from your iPhone or your web account).
Oh yes! Go to “display map”, click on the “pencil icon” and drag and drop the content pins.
Not at all! The more trips you create and share, the more grateful the Mappper community will be!
Yes. Every time you create a trip, all the information will be saved on your iPhone. If you publish it, it will also be available on the web. To add or modify the contents of a trip, click the “publish” button and make your changes. When you publish the trip again all the changes will be saved on web too.
